A 49-year-old man has been accused of a New Year’s Day assault on his partner or ex-partner.
Andrew Russell, of Auction Mart, Penrith, pleaded not guilty at Dumfries Sheriff Court to punching the woman in the face, pulling her to the floor and repeatedly striking her on the face at Bridge Street at Brydekirk, Annan.
He also denied behaving towards her in a threatening or abusive manner, shouting and swearing and acting in an aggressive manner and damaging property by punching a hole in a kitchen door.
Russell was remanded in custody for trial next month.
Meanwhile sentence on a further charge, which he admitted, of breaching a non-harassment order by being at Brydekirk and entering her home address when she was present, was deferred to the trial.
