A forest machinery specialist has teamed up with a national logistics business to deliver parts in Scotland.

Komatsu Forest Ltd, which has a base in Longtown, provides forest machinery to companies across the world but has a particularly strong presence in Scotland.

It has teamed up with Menzies Distribution to deliver parts for machinery in hard to reach areas of the country.

Menzies Distribution has eight depots and hubs in Scotland which means that it can deliver parts for machines within 24 hours. It is also offering Komatsu a storage facility at its base in Inverness where people can come and collect parts or have them delivered to a retailer nearby.

Komatsu said this is crucial for contractors who are paid by production output and whose business is seriously impacted by a delay in working machinery.

Per Annemalm, managing director of Komatsu Forest Ltd, said: “We are pleased to be working with Menzies Distribution which has accelerated the speed of our customer services significantly.

“Through Menzies Distribution we are now able to offer 24-hour delivery, reducing the time that our customers need to wait and meaning we are more efficient generally in our operations in the UK.

“The additional storage facility in Inverness means that we can also reduce the time from order to delivery for our customers.”

A spokesman for Menzies Distribution said: “We are pleased to announce that we are working with international firm Komatsu Forest.

“Menzies Distribution can provide Komatsu Forest with 24-hour delivery of crucial parts to its customers which has not been done before in Scotland.”
