Police have confirmed a man was stabbed in Whitehaven last night.
Just after 8pm officers were called to Main Street, Hensingham and closed the roads from the Junction to Ribton MoorsSide to the roundabout nearest Church Lane.
Officers diverted traffic along A595 up Homewood Road. The road was closed for several hours.
A man in his thirties was rushed to Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, with stab wounds but has since been discharged.
A police spokesman said: "We were called to an address in Main Street, Hensingham, at 8.15pm on December 26 to a report of a man in his thirties having suffered injuries believed to have been caused by a knife or other bladed article.
"The injured man was taken to CIC with stab wounds but has since been discharged.
"A 35-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of wounding. She is currently in police custody."
