Great preparation for the next steps: university, apprenticeships or employment

In 2019, 78 per cent of our students went to university, with 31 per cent attending prestigious Russell Group universities. We have a high calibre application process with expert tutors who can make university applications as strong as possible. We make the effort to support any ambition, and have given specialised support to less common student applications, such as the armed forces or to study abroad; we even travelled to London with one student to help him gain a fully-funded scholarship to Yale, in the USA. We send students to a vast array of universities and have strong links with many, including Durham, Cumbria and Lancaster. If university is not for you, then we have a dedicated careers advisor who will give you lots of time, and we have excellent links to major firms including Innovia, Futamura and Sellafield. In 2019, 14 per cent of our students gained highly competitive jobs and apprenticeships.

A genuinely comprehensive Sixth Form, with a proven reputation for academic excellence

We believe in ‘success for all’, and we have set our entry requirements so that NTS Sixth Form is as accessible as possible. Whatever grades you are aiming for, we can help you reach your potential. In fact, the analysis of our sixth-form results show that students of all abilities make strong progress. We are not a sixth form which only focus on the most able (but we have sent 38 students to Oxford and Cambridge in the last 11 years!). If you show commitment and endeavour, then we can add value and help you progress.
