A NEWLY refurbished community project opens its doors to the public for a Christmas event.

Warwick Bridge Corn Mill is extending an invitation for curious visitors to look around the newly regenerated building and enjoy a festive afternoon.

There will be mince pies, mulled wine, clog dancing, and carols to get into the Christmas spirit.

Gill Bruce, a member of the steering committee, said: “The event this weekend is really to get more engagement with the local community and brighten a not-so-good weekend after the election.

“There will be entertainment, we have got Warwick Bridge School, who we have had very close links with over the years, coming to sing some carols.

“We have got a group of local clog dancers coming to pound the boards upstairs.

“It’s just a feel-good weekend, it’s free to come in, there’s no charge and the mulled wine is free.”

The re-development work of the Corn Mill has been ongoing for years.

The Warwick Bridge community has been encouraged to get involved and share their support.

Plans are now in place to set-up a bakery using flour milled in-house.

“A lot of people have come over the last three years when the scaffolding was up to have a quick look at the outside of the building,” said Gill.

“Now, the whole building is finished and we’re able to produce a form of flour.

“It’s really just getting people involved, getting people to have a good look at it.

“The mill is something, that if you get involved with, it’s your hard work or your share money that is going to make a positive outcome to this community bakery.”

The doors will be open from 12pm-3pm on Sunday.
