International dancers will be pirouetting across the stage in Carlisle this spring.

Respected dance company Ballet Theatre UK will be touring Great Britain and they will be stopping at The Sands Centre to share their production of Giselle.

The romantic tragedy will see a full corps de ballet of 24 international dancers along with the critically acclaimed principal dancers.

The story follows a young girl who falls deeply in love but is soon be deceived as her beloved is betrothed to another. Through despair and desperation, the young girl kills herself, as she could not live without him. The ballet was first performed in 1841, but Giselle has never lost its popularity with audiences and is considered to be one of the jewels in the crown of the romantic repertoire.

The haunting classic will be set to the music by Adolphe Adam for the March performance.
