AN NHS worker has completed her progression from nurse to chief executive.

Lyn Simpson embarked on her NHS career by training as a nurse, before she then went on to be a midwife and health visitor before finally progressing into a senior management role.

Mrs Simpson has been appointed as successor to Stephen Eames as chief executive of North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC). She will join the trust in the new year.

She is currently employed as director of integration and transformation at Tees Valley NHS Trusts, with responsibility for NHS improvement.

“It is with immense pride that I have accepted the position of chief executive for North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust,” said Mrs Simpson.

“It’s such an exciting time to be joining this newly-formed trust and I look forward to working with all staff and partners to deliver the best possible health care for the communities we serve.”

Chairman of NCIC, professor Robin Talbot, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Lyn as chief executive. Her appointment will provide a clear focus on driving our new organisation forward as both a great place to receive care and a great place to work.”

The role has responsibility supporting other organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber area.
