PANTOMIME fans have been enjoying laughs with University of Cumbria staff, students and alumni in the heart of Carlisle.

The cast and crew of the successful sell-out run of the Green Room Club’s 2019 Goldilocks and The Three Bears included a number of university figures past and present.

Co-writer Jason Munn, who played Goldilocks, is studying acting at the university’s Institute of the Arts, Brampton Road, as are Tom Fitzgerald, aka Kenneth Keyhole, and stage manager Anna Lane.

Occupational therapy lecturer Edwina Rushe was among the team to take to the stage, playing the character of Doug.

Internal communications officer and 2018 performing arts graduate Sharron Taylor played pantomime villain Dr Ferdinand F’Arty whilst Sarah Waters, who completed a foundation degree in art at the Cumbria Institute of the Arts, one of the legacy institutions of Cumbria’s university, was Mrs Dinglely and Dick Turnip.

Louise Giovannini, who completed a foundation degree in teaching and learning at St Martin’s College, another legacy institution, played the part of Donkey whilst Ellen Wrenn, aka Mama Bear, trained as a teacher at UoC.

The curtain on the run came down on Saturday evening, with around 1,500 people flocking to the shows.
