CARLISLE City Council is reminding all pet owners to keep their dogs on leads in designated areas and make sure details are up to date on microchips after two residents were fined.

Katazryna Kowaczyk, of Blackwell Place, Carlisle was ordered to pay costs

of £200 and fined £40

after failing to update the details on her dog’s microchip.

She pleaded guilty at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on November 13, which prompted the council to remind residents to update details.

Claire Thurlow, of Moorlands Park, Longtown, was fined £220, ordered to pay costs of £239.65 and £32 to fund victim services.

The court heard that on the 26 July, near the play area in Talkin Tarn, Thurlow had a dog off the lead in a restricted area.

She was approached by officers from Carlisle City Council and was issued with a £100 fixed penalty fine which was not paid, despite reminder letters being sent.

The council are also reminding people to attend Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) interviews at the council, otherwise they could be fined.

On the 2 September a section 108 notice was served on Nicola Milloy, Duke Street, Carlisle requesting her to attend a PACE interview to enable enforcement officers to investigate a complaint of fly-tipping that had occurred in Duke Street and Hawick Street, Carlisle in June 2019, despite numerous attempts to engage with Milloy, she failed to engage with the council.

Milloy was fined £660, ordered to pay costs of £307.26 and £66 to fund victim services.
