Police are warning motorists to take care as high winds and heavy rain batter Cumbria.
A tree is reported to have been blown down at Durdar, near Carlisle, while powerful gusts on the A66 at Stainmore, near Penrith, have toppled a lorry.
Another vehicle has overturned at Metal Bridge on the M6.
There are no reports of any injuries.
The Met Officer, meanwhile, has reported that gale force winds - typically up to 50mph - are affecting more exposed parts of the county.
In some higher areas, gusts are reaching severe gale force - meaning up to 60mph.
Steven Keates, from the Met Office, said that the windy weather is expected to continue throughout this evening.
He said the county has also been affected by hours of rain, with around two and a half inches of rain falling in the last 36 hours at both Seathwaite and Honister Pass in the Lake District.
"It's going to be a windy event," said Mr Keates.
"We're going to see the same sort of wind speeds over the next three to four hours. It's windy, but not exceptionally so."
A Cumbria Police spokesman said that there are currently restrictions on the A66 in both directions across Cumbria and County Durham, between the M6 J40 and the A1 (Scotch Corner) due to the strong winds. "The road is closed to high-sided and vulnerable vehicles," said a statement. "Other cross-country routes (M62, A628, A69) are currently open to all vehicles."
