THE SISTER of a popular fundraiser has raised more than £2,000 for a charity in his memory.

Jan Johnstone of Seaton has raised £2,123 for both the Henderson Suite and Myeloma UK with a charity night earlier this month.

She organised the event at Seaton Village Hall in memory of her brother, David Barnes, a popular figure from Little Broughton.

Jan, who lives in Seaton said: “It was a total sell out.”

David, known as Barny, raised in excess of £20,000 for Myeloma UK together with his wife Shirley and the couple’s friends and family.

Jan said: “Over the past four years there has been a lot of fundraising done for him.

“I have helped towards them before but it’s the first one I’ve done myself.”

Singer Malcolm McClure, Jan’s uncle, performed live music with guitarist Billy Murray as The Unlikely Lads.
