A MAN has been assaulted by a group of males in Whitehaven town centre.

Police say the males were wearing black Puffa jackets and jeans and kicked the wing mirror off a silver Vauxhall Astra.

The vehicle was parked on Lowther Street when the attack happened on Friday night.

A spokesman from Cumbria Police said: "As a member of the public tried to stop the males, they assaulted him on Chapel Street at about 10pm.

"Anyone with any information about the assault or the damage, should contact PC2226 Postlethwaite on 101."

No further details about the man's injures were released by police.
