A busy day in the city centre for Cumbria Police led to five shoplifters being collared by the force.
Two youths were detained after being spotted shoplifting in TK Maxx, one of whom was caught after a chase that ended outside Sainsbury's on Willowholme Road.
A Cumbria Police spokesman continued: "A prolific shoplifter was arrested by the agile PC 2336 after PCSO's received information that the suspect had left Wilkinson's with a large bag for life full of kitchen items and electricals, this was also a breach of their Criminal Behaviour Order.
"And finally, two were detained and dealt with by way of Community Resolution after committing their first, and hopefully last, shoplifting offence, after leaving Debenham's without paying for luxury deodorant.
"Cumbria Constabulary is committed in creating safer, stronger communities by working with local people and partnerships to drive down crime."
