Police say a man died following a call for concern in Penrith.
Officersresponded to concerns about the welfare of a man in Cromwell Street in the early hours of this morning.
The road was closed for a number of hours while emergency services attended the scene.
A spokesman for Cumbria police said: "Police became aware of an incident at about 2am on Cromwell Street, Penrith, following a concern for the welfare of a man who was found in the area.
"The man, 55, from Penrith, was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle and subsequently died.
"There are no suspicious circumstances at this time.
"The coroner has been informed."
