Police are appealing for information after a man has been left with a broken jaw and burns.
Officers were called just before 6pm yesterday to a house on Spencer Street in Carlisle.
Two men and a teenager have been arrested and remain in police custody.
A spokesman for Cumbria police said: "We are appealing for information following an assault in Carlisle.
"Officers are investigating after a man sustained injuries including a broken jaw and burns at a house in Spencer Street.
"Three people – a man from Aspatria, aged 29, a man from Carlisle, aged 31 and a male, 17, from Carlisle, have been arrested.
"They remain in police custody today.
"The injured man, 33, of Carlisle, is at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
"His injuries are serious but not life threatening."
