Firefighters were called to action after an HGV crashed at the Golden Fleece Service station.

It happened just after 12am and crews from Carlisle East and West Station rushed to the scene.

The lorry had smashed into the fence protecting the Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank which is highly flammable.

A spokesman from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: "The driver of the HGV misjudged the turning.

"Nobody was injured, but the wagon was wedged tight and unable to be recovered.

"Crews cut away sections of the fence using Lukas E-draulic cutters and spreaders, so that the wagon could be removed.

"It could have been much worse."

It took the crews about an hour to complete.
