West End actors brought brilliant light to Flimby School.

The West End in School organisation celebrated Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights. Pupils danced, made diva lamps, rangoli pattern on silk and henna tattoos.

They also enjoyed Diwali sweets and tasting Indian food.

Deputy head teacher Tanya Peers said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and loved visiting all the different classes in the school and working with different teachers and teaching assistants. They gained so much from this experience and we are looking at using this model again for a healthy well being day.”

West End in Schools is a team of professional actors who visit schools to spread their philosophy that every child’s imagination should be inspired by the arts.

They use the arts for a huge variety of messages such as anti-bullying, learning about the cultures of the world and Shakespeare as well as more traditional story telling and even pantomimes.
