Workington and District Civic Trust has presented a plaque to the Helena Thompson Museum to commemorate the life of Victorian philanthropist, Helena Thompson.
Around 30 people turned up on Monday to see the presentation of the blue plaque, in honour of the services and donations that she has given to the town and residents.
The plaque reads: "Park House home of Helena Agnes Mary Thompson MBE JP. A lady dedicated to the wellbeing of all areas of Workington society and to whom she donated her home and costume collection."
It was presented by Tony Wareing, chairman of Workington Heritage Group to John Cook, lord of the manor of Workington, who was president of the Civic Trust and is now president of Workington Heritage Group.
