Maryport firms are invited to an event to help shape the future of the town.

Allerdale council wants to create a business forum so traders have a voice in the planned regeneration of the coastal town.

The event, at the Wave Centre next Wednesday, November 13, is open to businesses of all sizes.

People attending will receive an update on the authority's regeneration scheme and hear from Andrew Marshall, chairman of Cockermouth Chamber of Trade, about how businesses work together successfully in the nearby town.

Toni Magean, Allerdale’s business engagement manager, will explain the idea behind the business forum.

Mr Magean said: “I would urge anyone who runs and or is involved in a business in Maryport to come along to the event.

"Having a strong voice from businesses is going to be crucial in helping to shape the council’s regeneration plans going forward and we hope this can be the start of that.”

The forum starts at 6pm and is scheduled to finish at 7.30pm. The Wave Centre offers free parking.

Spaces for the event are limited and so people are advised to register their attendance online at eventpilot.evolutive.co.uk/events.aspx?siteID=429 or by emailing toni.magean@allerdale.gov.uk
