The trust which runs Carlisle’s hospital is looking for a new person to lead it.

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) - the new name for the now merged hospitals trust and partnership trust - has confirmed that chief executive Stephen Eames is stepping down after almost four years.

He will instead expand his current work with the North Cumbria Integrated Care System, taking on the role of System Lead for north Cumbria health and care. The organisation is made up of health and care commissioners and providers including the North West Ambulance Service, NHS England, Cumbria County Council and others.

Prof Eames’ new rolewill focus on: improving health – building care around communities; improving care – development of pathways and services, continuous quality improvement and joining up NHS work with other partners; and sustainability – financial sustainability and building a workforce for the future.

Prof Eames said: “I am extremely proud of the progress we have made since I joined the NHS in Cumbria in January 2016. I remain very committed to working in Cumbria. I look forward to continuing to work with our fantastic teams in my new role as well as working with the new chief executive.”

He will remain in his current post until a new chief executive is appointed for NCIC.
