A number of tyres and other rubbish have been fly-tipped near Moota.

The items were dumped at Parsonby Brow this week with Allerdale council officers spending valuable time collecting them to clear up the area.

And the council issued another warning that it will prosecute fly-tippers if they area caught.

The statement said: "If you are caught fly tipping you may be fined up to £50,000 or even be sent to prison.

"You may also be prosecuted if fly tipped items can be traced back to you, even if you weren’t the person who dumped them.

"We all have a duty of care to ensure that our rubbish is passed on to an authorised person so that it can be disposed of safely."
