WHILE Halloween may be less than a fortnight away - one Carlisle family has already decked the outside of their house with an array of devilish decorations.

Jenny Anderson, who lives on Whiteclose Gate in Knowfield, has marked the end of her first year at the house with a spooktacular celebration.

The property, which faces onto the main road, slowly began to spring up with ghoulishly great ornaments throughout the course of the last fortnight.

Tape stating ‘Beware’, ‘Haunted House’ and ‘Enter if you dare’, will greet trick-or-treaters on their way to the door, while a spooky doorbell will alert those inside when visitors have arrived to collect their sweet treats.

Scattered across the garden are four funky pumpkins, a ghost, a witch, gravestones and giant cobwebs - which have caught the eye of passing motorists, walkers and neighbours nearby.

Mum Jenny, who is a stay-at-home carer, decided to spruce up the outside of the home at the start of the month.

She told the News & Star: “I’m originally from Durranhill and over there they go mad for Halloween.

“If you go round there, it’s amazing, and that’s how it all started for me.

“I’ve bought stuff over the years, and when I moved here under a year ago, I thought with the house being a main road, it [the sight of Halloween decorations] would make people smile.

“Since the decorations went up, I’ve seen loads of people walk past with their children and smile.

“I didn’t want to make the outside of the house too scary, I wanted it to be more fun.

“Outside, I have a talking witch that has gave the postman a few frights, which I find hilarious, plus there’s cobwebs, a devils mask, a projector that will show pumpkins during the night, and there’s a black cat in the window.”

However, Jenny added she isn’t done yet.

“There’s still more I want to add in the run up to Halloween, so watch this space.”

Jenny’s daughter Jemima Anderson, eight, said: “The first thing we put up was the witch outside, and my mum just started buying loads of stuff and putting more and more things out.

“Anyone who comes to our house on Halloween will get a handmade necklace.

“They are made out of glitter, some have a pumpkin design and some have a skull design.”
