A MAN has been arrested by police following reports he was seen carrying a knife.
Police were called shortly before 3pm regarding a man seen in the street carrying a knife on the streets of Workington.
Officers attended and arrested a man on Harrington Road in the town.
A spokesman said: "The man – 23-years-old and from the Workington area – was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and affray.
"A woman aged 28 – also from the Workington area – was arrested on suspicion of affray.
"Both are currently in police custody.
"Cumbria Police has not received any reports of anyone having been injured in connection with this incident.
"Officers are aware of online comments suggesting there are people who have information which could assist officers in their investigation but who have yet to come forward.
"Anyone who witnessed a man carrying a knife should contact police immediately as they may be able to assist officers with their enquiries."
Those with information about the incident who have yet to contact police are being asked to do so, referencing incident 101 of October 19.
