Police are investigating after a number of cars were vandalised in Whitehaven over the weekend.

Vandals caused “considerable damage” to two cars parked on Richmond Hill Road in Hensingham.

The incident happened at around 10pm on Saturday night.

Alan Mossop, who lives on the road, said the four culprits were seen kicking out at his car.

A former mechanic, Mr Mossop said he had been able to repair the damage to his own car himself, but that an elderly neighbour who had her car wing mirror ripped off, had been left with a large bill.

He added that the vandals had also jumped on a car roof.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said that they were looking into the incident.

“Police are investigating criminal damage to a number of vehicles on Richmond Hill Road, Whitehaven.

“Two vehicles that have been parked up have been damaged.

“Police are appealing for anyone who has witnessed or any knowledge of the damages to come forward.”
