Music and dance acts are set to fill the stage at Whitehaven's Christmas lights-switch on next month.

Numerous groups are set to perform at the jam-packed event on Sunday, November, 17.

An Ed Sheeran tribute act will take to the CFM stage on Lowther Street, before switching on the town's Christmas lights at 6pm.

Also performing will be the Committed 2 Rock Choir, Sing Stars, Stage Stars and Soundwave, with more acts to be confirmed.

Along King Street will be 30 festive market stalls, offering a range of "exclusive" goods to entice Christmas shoppers.

Peppa Pig and her brother George will be on hand for meet and greets, along with the popular children's character, the Elf on the Shelf.

There will also be fun fair rides for children to enjoy.

Charles Maudling, chairman of the Christmas Festivities Group, said: "We just seem to get bigger and better every year. There's more lights to go up this year which will add to the festive fun.

"I know we can rely on the good people of Whitehaven and the surrounding areas to come down and enjoy it."

He also thanked Whitehaven Town Council who fund the Christmas lights and take responsibility for their maintenance.
