A pub has trotted into the limelight after winning two awards, and it's just the start for the proud owner.

High Harrington pub The Galloping Horse have been named CAMRA's Pub of the Season, thanks to their great food and beer, as well as their presence at the heart of the community.

Landlady Colette Mounsey opened the welcoming pub in 2017 after six months of renovations, and has put her business on the map through endlessly supporting charities.

The caring team have provided Workington Red's under seven team with kits and equipment, donated a tramper to the Calvert Trust at Bassenthwaite, helping to get elderly and disabled people around the lake, and also donated £1,000 to Healthy Hopes Workington, supporting socially isolated and vulnerable people.

And when they aren't making donations, The Galloping Horse is welcoming families, holding parties and events for youngsters, including the upcoming Halloween get together that everyone can look forward to.

On top of their Pub of the Season win, the friendly team have been awarded the silver medal for Cumbria in Bloom, and with so many wins in the bag, it's no surprise that Colette is looking to expand.

The popular pub's landlady recently announced that she will be opening restaurant "Buzz Station" in Whitehaven's old bus station, spreading The Galloping Horse's lovely service across West Cumbria.
