A music teacher and her pupils have raised more than £600 for Alzheimer’s Society.

The Harriet Malone Singers performed their summertime concert at Lamplugh Church, raising £152.

And Harriet herself took the total to £642 after taking part in this year’s Great North Run in Newcastle.

She completed the half marathon with her brother Oliver Telfer in memory of their Uncle David.

During their performance, the young singers received certificates from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

Christine Mitchell, a community fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society, said: “Harriet and her brother Oliver ran the Great North Run in memory of their much missed uncle, David, who was a passionate runner and inspirational person to them both. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with dementia in the last years of his life.

“Their Just Giving page has so far collected £642. We can’t thank them enough for their generous support.”

Harriet said: “The evening was very much enjoyed by both performers and audience and we shall look forward to the next one.”
