A WOMAN was injured by shattered glass caused by yobs who hurled a stone at a moving train.
British Transport Police have today released details of the disturbing incident which took place on September 21.
The woman in her 20s was a passenger on the train which was struck as it approached Flimby station. The glass caused an injury to her eye.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "It is believed the damage was caused by a stone thrown from nearby Solway Coast. This area runs parallel to the train tracks.
"The train, which was the Carlisle to Whitehaven service, was around 100 yards away from the Flimby station at the time of the incident."
Transport police are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who knows the identity of who was involved, to text them on 61016, or call 0800 40 50 40 and quoting reference 617 of September 21.
