This week we asked News & Star readers to share their recommendations on the best places to go in the north and west of Cumbria.

We had many comments on our Facebook page following our post earlier this week.

Here - in no particular order, are our readers’ choice.

1. The Lad Barber

The barbers on Main Street, Egremont is open six days a week and open late on a Thursday evening.

It was recommenced to us by a number of reader.

Nichola Branney said: "Friendly staff, very reasonable prices, always giving something back to the community, fantastic service.

100 percent recommend to anyone."

2. Rachel's barber shop

Located on Wood Street, Maryport they are only closed on a Sunday and Monday.

Stacey Walsh said: "My husband and two boys go to this barbers and they are friendly and make you feel welcome. They always get a fabulous hair cut."

Elizabeth Hull said: "Both of my boys love the rock and roll pics on the walls. My eldest son has real sensory issues with getting his hair cut and Rachel is always so patient with him and puts him at ease. Both boys feel like cool dudes after their visit to Rachel's."

3. Jane Street Barbers

Located in Workington, the shop had a number of glowing recommendations from customers.

Mark Chisholm, who made the recommendation, said: "Simply the best for all ages and no appointments needed"

4. The Barbers Tanya Walsh

Open from 7am on Saturday and located in Longtown, they are only closed on a Sunday and Monday.

Jenny Carlile said: "Looks after all her customers including my disabled dad Tanya and her team - fantastic."

5. The Gentry

This hairdressers and barbers also have a tattoo studio. Located on Junction Street they offer a number of different packages to suit customer needs.

Oli Brown said: "It's the best around! Quality haircuts and amazing staff."

6. Isaac the Barber Man

Located on Peter Street, Workington. Gemma Hornsby would recommend the place. She said: "He has always been so patient with my son who wouldn’t let anyone else touch his hair. But the banter is pretty good too."

7. New Seville Barbers, Whitehaven

Open six days a week on Church Street, Whitehaven, Lorraine Mills said: "mazing patients and attitudes when cutting my children’s hair. Amazingly confident when cutting my autistic child’s hair which can often be a challenge."

8. Dirty Filthy Barbers

Alex Southward said: "Best Barbers in Cumbria. Carlisle. Kyle Fisher gives the best cuts in the North of England. Beards to Barnet's the lad knows his trade."

9. JJ's Hair and Beauty

Emma Proudfoot would highly recommend the premises on Botchergate, Carlisle.

10. Duke Hare

Open until 8pm on a Friday evening, Mark Whitfield, said: "Made to feel welcome when I go and they always do a fantastic job."
