The Lakeland Dialect Society stage their annual night of songs and sketches at Theatre by the Lake next Sunday.

The society is dedicated to preserving and promoting the ancient dialect of Lakeland group and will be taking over the studio at the theatre to celebrate the unique language of Cumbria and the county itself.

Titled Ya Mek me Laff, the show will include songs and stories from favourite authors writing in the unique speech of our well-loved hills and fells.

Meanwhile, the Mainstage plays host to a tribute to the legendary singer songwriters Simon and Garfunkel.

The Simon and Garfunkel Story comes to the theatre following its success at London’s Lyric Theatre and sold out concerts in the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe,

The show features a live band, projection and original film footage and you can expect all the classics to be played, including Mrs Robinson, Homeward Bound and Bridge Over Troubled Waters.
