A COMMUNITY centre in Carlisle has unveiled plans to hold their first-ever pantomime.

Harraby Community Campus, on Edgehill Road, hope to put on a festive performance of Dick Whittington in December.

Organised by Mixed Up Productions in collaboration with Harraby Community Theatre, shows will take place on December 4, 5 and 6.

Liz Jackson, from the community centre, is among several people involved in the family panto.

She said: “We’ve got our script, and held auditions earlier in the summer with a focus on getting people in the local community to come forward and take part.

“We had a great response, with rehearsals already underway.

“We’re also keeping the price of the tickets low, so it is affordable and each night the community cafe and a licensed bar will be open.”

Liz added that people are still being sought to help with work behind the scenes, and should get in touch with the community centre if they can help.

“If there is anyone who can help with make-up and costumes, please get in touch.”

Daniel Millar, co-founder of Mixed Up Productions, said: “I’m looking forward to Dick Whittington and working with the Harraby Community Centre, who have been kind enough to let us use their facilities this Christmas.”

Auditions for the show were held earlier in the summer, with a full cast announcement to be revealed within the next few weeks.

Tickets will cost £3 per person.
