A NORTH Cumbrian fish and chip shop has made it into the top 10 of a national competition to find the nation’s best.
Matt and Ashley Phillips took ownership of the Shap Chippy in 2018 and their shop is now a finalist in the National Fish and Chip Awards.
They are in the top 10 in the whole of the UK, following rounds of mystery shops and intensive audits.
Ashley said: “We are over the moon. Our team consistently deliver 100 per cent every time and this achievement to make the Top 10 is really testament to their passion for the industry and the product they serve.”
Matt said: “To be recognised as one of the Top 10 when we are competing against the Best of the Best is such a humbling achievement. Ashley is off to Norway to join a study trip with Seafish to learn where our fish is sourced, how its caught and why MSC sustainability in today’s climate is so important.”
The final of the competition will be held in London in January 2020 where the Top 10 Fish and Chip Shops will find out who has won the prestigious title of Best Fish and Chip Shop UK 2020.
