A man has been banned from driving for 18 months after he was caught behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol.

Sam Cruden, 20, of Chapel Street, Bigrigg, will have his sentence reduced by 18 weeks if he completes a drink-drivers rehabilitation course.

A Workington court heard that Cruden was driving an Alfa Romeo Mito at Linethwaite, Moor Row, on August 26 when the offence took place.

He was found to have 67 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.

Cruden pleaded guilty and was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
