A PETROL station on the A69 is set to reopen after being given a new lease of life.

Henshaw garage, near Bardon Mill, has been closed since June 19 to allow for major improvement work to be carried out.

However, the garage on the busy Carlisle to Newcastle road is finally set to reopen on September 14, boasting a set of new facilities for motorists.

The improvements mainly centre on the site’s shop.

The shop has been modernised and increased in size by supermarket chain Spar.

A disabled toilet has also been provided.

The existing lean-to asbestos roof has been replaced with a new, flat metal roof.

The work was carried out after new owners M&L Richardson felt the station needed modernising to improve customers’ experience.

The company also owns the petrol station at Low Row, further west on the A69.
