A free school uniform drive was hailed a success in Cleator Moor this week.
Councillor Michael Eldon and Sarah Harper organised the event, to distribute school uniforms that had been donated by local residents and also from Mirehouse councillors Carl and Louise Walmsley.
Monday’s event at the Phoenix Youth Project saw plenty of families in attendance.
Coun Eldon said: “I would like to thank everyone who donated clothes to this project, Paul Rowe and Phoenix Youth Centre for the use of the facilities and a big thanks to Carl and Louise Walmsley for the inspiration for this event and Whitehaven Academy Action Group for their clothing donations too.
“We had lots of families come and collect school uniforms, and even more people expressing interest in both donating and collecting uniforms.
“We still have spare uniforms left over, so if anyone wishes to have one please contact me on Facebook to arrange collection.”
