UP to 57,000 runners are taking part in this year's Great North Marathon - and we have details of how to find out the run times for each participant.

The 13.1-mile route, which starts in Newcastle and ends at South Shields, is known as the biggest half-marathon in the world.

Dozens of Cumbrian's have signed up to take part, and the Great Run Company have revealed how to check for the run times online.

The details are made possible by the race chip which each runner has.

Once that race chip has crossed the finish line, the results are made available online shortly after.

The website also contains an archive for each Great North Run events, including the Junior, Mini, 5k and 10k races.
