Charlie Landsborough is the biggest name in British country music.

He performed at Nashville’s Grand Ole Oprey to a full house, which was unprecedented for a UK artist, he has won about every possible award in UK Country music including, Best Songwriter, Best Song, Best Male Vocalist, Best Album and International Country Album of the year.

He has also received a nomination as Best Global Country Artist in the Country Music Association Awards in Nashville. Many of his albums have topped the country charts and has sold well over a million albums.

His hits include My Forever Friend, Colour of the Wind and I Will Love You All My Life. His songs cover all genres of music from ballads to folk, blues, rock ‘n’ roll, pop and gospel have been covered by stars including Pat Boone, Foster and Allen, George Hamilton IV and Daniel O’Donnell.

He was inducted into the British Country Music Hall Of Fame in 2011 but it could have been so different.

As Charlie’s grammar school headmaster Mr King said: “He had an excellent academic career ahead of him until that damn Banjo got in the way”

Charlie his plans to retire from touring this year - after an extended series of gigs across the UK.

Ahead of his tour, the Liverpudlian released his latest album The Attic Collection comprising of, in his own words “a collection of some of my musical memorabilia, some of which that was actually recorded in an attic, that of my good friend Jim Donaldson.

“It is always nice to reflect on what’s gone before and to remember various episodes of our lives and I have fond memories associated with each track on this collection.”

His 35th album features 15 totally different versions of the original releases from his early albums and five new songs, including a cover version of Bob Dylan’s Don’t Think Twice.
