Detectives investigating the death of a man who was reported missing in a Cumbrian river have arrested a woman on suspicion of murder.

The body of Simon Dodds, 43, from Ambleside, was found in the area of the River Kent near Levens, south of Kendal, on August 13 at 3pm.

Earlier reports suggested he was missing in the river at Sedgwick.

Cumbria Police have now released a statement confirming that a 30-year-old woman from Ambleside has been arrested.

She remains in police custody.

Detectives meanwhile are continuing their appeal for witnesses or anyone who has dashcam footage taken in the area of Nannypie Lane, which links the A590 and the A591 west of Sedgewick, or that might have seen a vehicle in the nearby layby between 9pm on Saturday 10th August 10 and 7am on Sunday August 11.
