EDEN Council looks set to hand out grants totalling £44,500.
Nine projects are set to benefit from the council’s Eden Community Fund which goes before the executive tomorrow.
One of the largest awards of £10,000 will go to the £1.2m Edenside Project in Appleby by the Oaklea Trust. It takes its name from the former Edenside Residential Care Home in Appleby.
It was previously a home for the elderly but has been empty since Storm Desmond struck in December 2015. The Trust plans to develop the site into extra care housing .
Another beneficiary is Kirkby Thore Pre-School which is set to receive £500 towards its community fireworks display.
Pooley Bridge also looks set to receive more than £6,000 towards a project to improve the village hall.
