AT Millcroft Vets, we understand how important your pet is to you. They are part of the family, and, for some people, the only company they might have day-to-day.

If your animal becomes ill during the night, or when the practice is closed, we know that it is often hard to wait until the next day when the practice is open.

Millcroft Veterinary Group is an independent veterinary practice dedicated to providing quality veterinary care in Cumbria. Across the region, we have a team of 23 vets, 14 Registered Veterinary Nurses, and 3 Student Veterinary Nurses, who, as well as working with your animals throughout the day, provide treatment to animals that need it while we are closed.

We run a dedicated Out of Hours (OOH) service, from the Cockermouth branch, with two vets and a nurse on call each night, to provide treatment to sick animals, as well as provide medications and care to hospitalised patients.

We care for your pet out of hours, exactly as we would if they came to us during the day. It is important to us that we manage our own OOH, because it means that we will have access to your pet’s full clinical history, and you and your animal will see a vet that you are familiar with.

Treatment will be carried out in familiar surroundings, which may be comforting - for both of you - at a stressful time.

Many of our patients have been brought in to our OOH clinic, with happy results.

“I have had to use this invaluable emergency service on numerous occasions. The service is second to none and nothing is ever too much trouble. Myself and my dogs are forever grateful.” Victoria

“Have had to use your OOH emergency service on a number of occasions & it’s second to none, been able to get a vet after midnight within 10mins after phoning. It’s a lifesaving service.” Karen
