TWO shows mixing history, horror and comedy are to come to Carlisle.

Horrible Histories Live on Stage is to appear at The Sands Centre between September 19 and September 22, with both Terrible Tudors and Awful Egyptians on offer for audiences.

The Terrible Tudors show takes a trip through the horrible Henries right through to the end of Elizabeth, showing the fate of Henry's headless wives and his scuffle with the Pope.

While the Awful Egyptians journeys into the world of Pharoahs and the history of Egypt, with 3D effects showing the Spanish Armada firing cannonballs into the auditorium.

Both plays will be shown once a day between the Thursday and the Saturday, with only the Tudors show on the Sunday.

The iconic children's books were written by Terry Deary and the plays have been adapted by the bestselling author.

More than 25m copies of Horrible Histories have been sold worldwide since the first one was released in 1993.

Horrible Histories Live on Stage is directed by Neal Foster, is designed by Jackie Trousdale, lighting is by Jason Taylor, sound is by Nick Sagar and music by Matthew Scott.

Tickets are priced between £10 and £18.50 plus booking fee.
