IT’S less than a fortnight until many children head back to school for the new term.

Across the county, the thoughts of parents will soon turn to school uniforms, and where the best places are to buy them.

This week, the News & Star has put that question to our readers, asking where they would recommend in north and west Cumbria.

Here - in no particular order - are our readers’ choice.

1 UNIFORM SHOP, DENTON HOLME, CARLISLE

The shop, based on Nelson Street in Carlisle, was recommended by several readers.

The children’s clothing store is open six days a week, and is closed on Sundays.

It is also recommended by several schools in Carlisle and surrounding areas.

Julie Ridley-Shannan said: “The Uniform shop in Denton Holme, it’s a little more expensive than supermarkets but tons better quality and [the clothes] wash really well.”

2 ASDA SUPERMARKETS

The supermarket chain ranked highly among many of the News & Star

readers.

Lyn Barker said: “Asda; it’s well worth the price The only problem is it’s that popular, it sells out fast.”
