ONE of Fletchertown’s annual art festivals has been taking place this week and there is still time to catch a glimpse before it finishes.

Allhallows Community Centre in Fletchertown has once again opened its doors to local artists to display their work for the public to browse and buy.

Starting on Saturday, (17th) ,the ten-day event is open daily from 11am to 4pm ending on Monday (26) and admission is free.

Open to a number of artists locally, it features a superb display of art and crafts by leading Cumbrian painters, sculptors, potters, textile artists and woodturners. These include artists who feature work in Wigton’s Fountain Gallery.

Caroline MacKenzie, organiser of the event, is “extremely pleased” with how the event is going.

She said: “Overall sales are higher and footfall is higher. It’s a firmly established event. Fletchertown is an artistic hub.

“We’re also thankful to our sponsors the Wordsworth trust who host three monthly events with us.”

Stained glass artist and painter, Brian Campbell has some of his work displayed.

He has 24 of the original paintings from his 2018 and 2019 calenders.

Mr Campbell said: “The subject this year seems to be predominantly landscapes, but there is work from potters and other crafts makers.

“The event is very good. This exhibition is a fantastic reflection on Caroline MacKenzie.

“She is tireless with her enthusiasm. She is a delight and really is a great help to all the artists.”

The Fountain Gallery are currently preparing for their run up to Christmas.
