A WARNING has been issued by firefighters after a tumble dryer overheated at a property in Carlisle.
Crews from Carlisle East and West were sent to an address at Yewtree Court in Denton Holme just after 8.30pm on Tuesday.
Once there, the firefighters removed the appliance from the property.
A spokesman from Carlisle East fire station told the News & Star: "We would urge homeowners not to leave any electrical appliances running while they are out of their homes.
"We have heard cases in the past where people have switched a tumble dryer or a washing machine on, then gone out and returned to find a fire, or a malfunction with the appliance.
"If you switch them on, please make sure you are in your homes and keep an eye on them regularly while they are being used."
Both crews spent about half an hour at the property before returning to their respective stations.
