A BRIDGE in Brampton is to be closed for nearly three weeks to allow for emergency repairs to be carried out.

A section of New Mills Bridge, which links the A6071 with the A69 Brampton Bypass, was shut to traffic on Monday.

The temporary road closure has been put in place to allow Balfour Beatty to repair to the 'dangerously damaged' bridge structure.

The works are expected to last for 21 days, with the road set to reopen to drivers at the start of next month.

A diversion route is in place along the unrestricted sections the A6071, Station Road and the A69 Brampton Bypass.
