Virtual reality and cross-country road trips are the future of university open days.

The University of Cumbria has taken the campus on the road this summer to give prospective students a chance to experience the different options on offer.

The ‘Up and Coming’ roadshow, which is touring the north and Belfast between August and September, is a new way of encouraging people to join the university, through lecture taster sessions and virtual reality tours.

Staff will be on hand to give advice about higher education.

Ruth Harrison-Palmer, co-head of the university’s Institute of Education, said: “Visiting events like this raises awareness of what we do, the expertise and specialist support we offer, and exemplifies the experiential learning approaches our students have.”
