TWO traders markets will be held in Whitehaven later this year following a successful event which saw 26 food and craft stalls taking part.

Whitehaven Town Council is hosting the popular markets on September 13 and December 13 in St Nicholas' Gardens.

The market in June featured producers from across the county including Grasmere Gingerbread and Ennerdale Brewery. Local businessman and town council event comittee member Gerard Richardson said: "The last event was a roaring success and the feedback from traders and shoppers alike was fabulous. We would love to see some more traders from Copeland and Allerdale as well as the popular stalls from the Lake District so if anyone knows a small artisan producer of food or crafts, please ask them to get in touch. Most importantly, space is free."

Town council chairman Brian O Kane said: "This is about promoting the town as a place to visit and shop and also about promoting some of the wonderful small producers we have in this county and it was lovely to hear the positive feedback from the last event in June."

Anyone interested in trading should contact the town council on clerk@whitehaventowncouncil.co.uk or gerard@richardsonsoffice.net for a booking form or more information.
