The owner of a Carlisle beauty business says she is on top of the world after a double awards success.

Chloe Warton, who owns Chloe’s Beauty, on Cecil Street, won the award for Cumbria’s best beauty salon at the county stage of England’s Business Awards in March.

The salon received a further accolade when it was named best beauty salon in the North of England in the regional awards.

Her business came out top ahead of four other salons from Manchester, Newcastle, County Durham and North Yorkshire.

She said: “I didn’t expect it at all, I was shocked when I won the Cumbria award.”

Winners were voted for by members of the public, with the awards ceremony held at York Racecourse last month.

Chloe has been running the business for four years, which also employs a beauty therapist and provides work for a self-employed make-up artist.

She said: “We are always doing new training courses and keeping up to date with the latest developments and we are always getting new customers.”

She said some of the latest trends in beauty included micro-blading, a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo, Russian eyelashes and a form of exfoliation called dermaplaning.

Although the majority of the salon’s hundreds of customers are women, Chloe said it also increasingly caters for men.

Other Cumbrian winners included James Pittam Health and Fitness, based in Penrith, which won the Northern fitness category. It also came away with the top title of the North’s Best Business.

Scallywags, in Carlisle, was named Best Pet Grooming Business in the North.
