Chance’s Park in Carlisle has received international recognition for the ninth year in a row.
The park, which is based just off Wigton Road, has received the Green Flag Award, in recognition of its beauty and the quality of its facilities.
The Green Flag Award is awarded to parks and green spaces that are particularly high quality.
Councillor Elizabeth Mallinson said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for the ninth year in a row.
“The park is a great place for leisure activities and is a healthy area, promoting wellbeing.
“We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining Chance’s Park to such a high standard.”
It is one of almost 2,000 parks in the UK to receive the award this year, which is a record breaking number.
Chance’s Park boasts a large play park, nature trails, manor grounds, a Georgian garden, a hay meadow, wild flower garden and football pitches.
Paul Todd, scheme manager of the International Green Flag Award, said: “Each flag honours the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”
