Police are organising a public search tomorrow to try and find a missing 91-year-old man in Workington.

Gerard Doran, who has Alzheimer's, has been missing since 1pm last Thursday.

Any members of the public who can join the search party are asked to meet at the site of Workington Fire Station on Moorclose Road at 10am.

Searches are set to be held in fields in the Workington area.

Officers and partner agencies have been looking for Mr Doran but there have been no confirmed sightings since his disappearance last week.

Sergeant Harley Young said: “We would ask any members of the public who are free to help us in this search.

“Police officers will arrange search parties and we will co-ordinate efforts from there.

“It is important that people who want to help arrive at the correct site at the right time.

“This is so efforts can be co-ordinated properly and the searches done effectively and as quickly as possible.”

Police have asked that all members of the public bring suitable clothing as well as sunscreen and water.
